Fans who watched to the end of Netflix's new Noah Centineo-starring series The Recruit will have seen a surprising cameo during the conclusion. To wrap out the first season of the show, a specific United States Central Command (CENTCOM) agent entered and briefly stole the show. The series' icing on the cake was none other than Nathan Fillion, a personal preference of series creator Alexi Hawley. In an interview with Maggie Lovitt from Collider, Hawley discussed how he was able to secure the celebrity for a cameo.
Fillion is a popular among fans and is well-known for his work in movies, television shows, and even video games. He has received praise for his parts in the Halo and Destiny video game franchises as well as for his appearances in TV shows like Firefly and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, movies like James Gunn's Slither, and video games. His relationship with Hawley, though, made The Recruit completely comprehensible to him. In addition to directing the Netflix thriller, Hawley also contributed as a writer on the television series Castle, in which Nathan Fillion played the endearing mystery author turned vigilante Richard Castle in one of his most cherished roles. Additionally, he produced The Rookie, another Fillion-led production in which the actor plays a rookie cop who changed careers and became the oldest rookie in the Los Angeles Police Department.
Because of such relationships, it appears that Fillion was delighted to reunite with Hawley. When asked if he immediately said "yes" when the creator called, Hawley replied:
It was. Hey, will you, I said when I called him. Because Nathan is such a nice guy, he responded yes before I could even finish my thought. However, I just believed that the CIA director would enter the scene at the very end of the first season of the show and would need to command the space. And because Nathan is such a captivating and talented actor, he became excited because he said, "I get to curse." It is something he is never able to accomplish on network television. So yeah, it was a lot of fun, and I appreciated his gracious acceptance.

In "The Recruit," Fillion Selected a Promising Project
Fillion gives the highly anticipated Netflix series one more dash of flair. In the midst of a tremendous hot streak that has seen him appear in To All the Boys I've Loved Before, The Perfect Date, and most recently, Black Adam, Centineo receives the starring role. The Netflix favourite is a member of a stellar cast that also includes Kristian Bruun, Vondie Curtis-Hall, Aarti Mann, Colton Dunn, Fivel Stewart, Laura Haddock, and Vondie Curtis-Hall. With Linus Roache, Angel Parker, Byron Mann, and Kaylah Zander all on board, the recurring cast is very impressive. The Bourne Identity's Doug Liman will be directing alongside Alex Kalymnios, Emmanuel Osei-Kuffour Jr., and Julian Holmes, while Hawley will use his experience with police procedurals as the showrunner.
In The Recruit, Centineo plays CIA lawyer Owen Hendricks, who is thrust into the thick of things when a letter from a former asset threatens to expose the entire organisation. What comes next is a global plot that tests Hendricks to the breaking point as he negotiates a challenging political environment and hostile foreign foes in search of the truth.
