The follow-up to the 2009 box office sensation Avatar, the all-time highest-grossing movie, is titled Avatar: The Way of Water. It may be difficult for the sequel to top that total (nearly $3 billion worldwide), but it is anticipated to make a significant impact on the global box office.
According to Box Office India, tickets for James Cameron's Avatar: The Way Of Water, which opens in theatres today (December 16), have been sold for Rs. 30 crore net. Advance reservations were incredibly common in the South, including smaller places like Vijayawada, Coimbatore, Kurnool, and Tirupati.
Despite not selling as many tickets as films like Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, RRR, Brahmastra Part One Shiva, and KGF Chapter 2, the film has nonetheless generated more revenue due to higher average ticket prices. In some locations, the price of a ticket for an IMAX show might exceed Rs. 2500. The amount is less than what Marvel's blockbuster Hollywood films, like the Avengers series, demanding.
By Wednesday, the sequel has sold one million tickets on BookMyShow and may break box office records held by Indian and Hollywood blockbusters like Dangal, KGF: Chapter 2, and Avengers: Endgame.
More than 3800 theatres are expected to showcase 17000 showings of the film per day. It attempts to rank among the top 3 Hollywood films that have ever made the most money in India. Avengers: Endgame ($53 million), Spider-Man: No Way Home ($32.67 million), and Avengers: Infinity War are among the titles on this list (Rs. 31.30 cr).
The movie's trailer was made available on November 2 and is scheduled for release on December 16. Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana reprise their roles as Jake Sully and Neytiri in this sequel to the 2009 film Avatar. Significant parts are also played by Kate Winslet, Stephen Lang, David Thewlis, Brendan Cowell, and others. It will be presented in English, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi in 2D, 3D, 3D Screen X, 4DX, and IMAX 3D.
