Results prior to Argentina vs. France in the FIFA World Cup 2022 final, previous champions, runners-up, and other information
On Sunday night, the 2022 World Cup in Qatar comes to an end as Argentina faces the defending champions France in what promises to be an exciting finale.
Despite Antoine Griezmann's efforts to be all-action, this showpiece will unavoidably be promoted as the matchup between Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe of Paris Saint-Germain. The owner of PSG, Qatar Sports Investment, hedged their bets with a third superstar forward, but with Brazil's quarterfinal exit, the feted stars of the past, present, and future (and present) triumphed.
Both Messi and Mbappe have five goals as they compete for the Golden Boot, but Messi is enjoying a statistically stronger tournament because he has three assists as opposed to Mbappe's two.
After missing the semi-final due to suspension, Lionel Scaloni will be able to welcome back Marcos Acuna and Gonzalo Montiel. Acuna will compete with Nicolas Tagliafico for a starting position.
Angel Di Maria has been dealing with muscular problems, and Alejandro Gomez is maybe dealing with an ankle injury. The Juventus forward might earn his first start since the group stages in the final on Sunday despite not playing at all in the semi-final.
French lineup anticipated for Argentina
Starting 11 for Argentina (4-3-3): De Paul, Fernandez, Mac Allister, Molina, Romero, Otamendi, Acuna, E. Martinez; Di Maria, Messi, and Alvarez.
Bench: Montiel, Armani, Rulli, La Martinez, Pezzella, Foyth, Paredes, Rodriguez, Palacios, Almada, Correa, Dybala, Tagliafico, and Foyth.
Team France news
Adrien Rabiot was one of many players who Didier Deschamps described as having "flu-like symptoms" when he watched France's semi-final match against Morocco from the team hotel.
Dayot Upamecano travelled to the stadium but remained on the sidelines as he took care of his illness. Deschamps is optimistic that both players will be able to participate in the championship game, though. The third player affected who is also a dub is Kingsley Coman.
French team predictions for Argentina
Lloris; Kounde; Varane; Upamecano; Hernandez; Griezmann; Tchouameni; Rabiot; Dembele; Giroud; and Mbappe make up France's starting lineup (4-3-3) for the match.
Areola, Mandanda, Disasi, Saliba, Konate, Pavard, Veretout, Camavinga, Coman, Guendouzi, Kolo Muani, Thuram, and Fofana make up the bench.
